U19 Boys Soccer: Runners-up in League final

Commiserations to Scoil Aireagail’s u19 boys soccer panel and to manager Mr. Madden! Our senior boys lost to Tullow by 2-0 in the Carlow-Kilkenny League Division 1 final held in Bagnelstown. Co. Carlow recently.

With 6 points from 9, the senior boys sat joint top of the Carlow-Kilkenny League Division 1, which saw them qualify for the final against Tullow, who Ballyhale had beaten 2-1 away from home earlier in the competition. Unfortunately, there was to be no repeat result, and Tullow ran out deserving winners, despite the best efforts online pokies of captain Conor Coffey, Shane Denieffe, Kieran Dowling and goalkeeper Ian Frisby. It has to be said that a number of key panel members were missing through injury, which did not help matters.

Irrespective of this result, all members of the panel did themselves and the school proud throughout the entire league campaign, said manager Mr. Madden. It was the team’s first year in division 1, so reaching the final is a fantastic achievement all round.

Well done lads!
