On Wednesday 10th October the Junior boys hurling team played in Carlow against a Wicklow team made up of 7 schools from Wicklow in the South Leinster Semi Final.

The opening point of the game was in Wicklow’s favour but the Scoil Aireagail boys soon followed with 2 points from Roy Cullen and Ronan Coffey.Scoil Aireagail soon began to dominate the game but Wicklow fought back with 1-2 scored from play. Scoil Aireagail worked hard and managed to get two good points by Aaron Doherty and Ronan Coffey, but Wicklow succeeded in two quick goals before half time.

The boys went into the second half trailing by 3-1. Four tactical changes were made by Mr. Walsh introducing Brian Farrell, Adam Brenner, Jamie McLaughlin and Dean Fogarty. The Wicklow lads got off to a better start adding 1-2 to the scoreboard. The Ballyhale defence soon upped their game with great clearances from Stephen Mackay, Daryl Cass Kennedy, Ryan Bland, Kieran Reid, and Brian Farrell. Aaron Doherty and Sully Masood worked well all around supporting their team mates. The lads were unlucky missing goal chances online casino throughout the game, including hitting the post on two occasions. But smart thinking from Roy Cullen, Luke Rafter, Sean Grace and Conor Doolan led to a brilliant goal from Ronan Coffey buried into the back of the net. With another goal on their minds quick passing from Luke Rafter to Ronan Coffey to captain Eugene Aylward saw the sliotar ending up in the Wicklow goal. Scoil Aireagail was misfortunate to concede another goal and a few points.

Conor Reid played outstanding in goal with a number of great saves. Scoil Aireagail didn’t give up despite the score difference and finished strong with a well deserved goal from Eugene Aylward. The final score was 6-8 to 3-5 for the Wicklow boys.
