Scoil Aireagail News

The school year is well and truly up and running again. Students and teachers are settling back into a routine of learning and work. The continuing good weather is certainly helpful in making the transition from the summer holidays less arduous than what might otherwise have been the case.

Already the school has had cause for celebration. Congratulations firstly to all of last year’s Leaving Cert students who received their results a few weeks ago. They were a very solid set of results. Congrats in particular to Emma Blake who achieved the best leaving cert for girls while Conor O’ Dwyer was the top boy. We wish all of last year’s students the very best in their chosen course or career choice.

The artistic talents of Scoil Aireagail’s students once again proved too much for the rest of the field at the Iverk Show in Piltown. The school once again scooped the award at the show. Great credit is due to the students and to their art teacher Ms. Roche. Well done all!

Finally, the school,is delighted to boast a hurling All-Ireland winning captain in Martin Davis, a third year student. Martin is the captain of the U-14 squad which was victorious in the Sonny Walsh Cup. The team defeated Wexford, Limerick, Tipperary and Limerick on the way to lifting the trophy. Martin is a Ballyhale Shamrocks player and Scoil Aireagail hurler of the year. He looks like having a bright future in the game.

All of the above achievement were recognised at a school assembly this week.
