Hurling

The junior hurling team have been made an excellent start by progressing top of their group overcoming Callan CBS by 5-22 to 0-9, and and Grennan College on a scoreline of 4-14 to 4-11 after an epic game. We are due to face Presentation DLS. Bagenalstown in the quarter final on the 14th of October, where we will be hoping to continue our good form.

The First Years participated in a hurling blitz in Palmerstown on the 18th of September. It was an enjoyable day out and it was the first occasion that our players got to pull on the Scoil Aireagail jersey. We have some very promising hurlers in First Year so hopefully many of these can make a telling contribution to our juvenile team when their competition begins after Christmas.

In Senior hurling Scoil Aireagail has been drawn to play Callan CBS, Bagnelstown De La Salle and Wicklow Schools in the league section of the Senior Hurling Competition. Training has been very positive so far this year and despite playing our first challenge match, against a combined Kilkenny Schools Team without many key players, we recorded a solid victory 4-11 to 3-12. Darragh Doyle, Conor Doolan, Jamie McLoughlin, Adham Masood and Sean Brennan were our best players on the day. Our first league game is against Callan CBS in Callan on Tuesday the 13th, so wishing them a successful day.
