Principal Liam O’Brien’s Christmas Message 2020

There is no doubt that students and staff members are particularly looking forward to the Christmas break this year. Covid compliance measures have meant that school life has had to change in many ways; wearing masks, social distancing, severe restrictions on extra-curricular activities. Teachers have had to modify their practices to account for these changes. Students have had to be very disciplined in how they interact with each other. This has proved to be challenging to maintain for such a long period. The school community has dealt with these challenges very well. I would like to commend all staff members for their dedicated work and diligence in ensuring that we have delivered quality teaching and learning in a very safe environment. I would like to thank parents for their support of our Covid Response Plan. Most of all, I would like to congratulate the students for their excellent cooperation and compliance with the measures put in place. You have been fantastic in your positive, respectful approach in difficult circumstances. As a result there is a very positive atmosphere in the school, where students’ wellbeing is paramount and where they are engaged in their learning. Thankfully, there have been no positive cases among students or staff. With continued vigilance and cooperation from everyone in the school community, we hope to maintain this record. On behalf of the staff members, Parents Association and Board of Management of Scoil Aireagail, I would like to wish all in the school community and beyond a safe and peaceful Christmas and every good fortune in the New Year.
