Congratulations to Scoil Aireagail’s u19 boys soccer panel and to manager Mr. Madden! Our senior boys defeated Carlow Vocational School by 5-1 in Ballyhale last Wednesday.
Having won the Carlow-Kilkenny League Division 2 last season, our u19s were promoted to Division 1 for this year and began their campaign at home to Carlow last week, hoping for a good start. Led by Captain Conor Coffey and vice-captain Shane Denieffe, the lads produced a stunning first half display and were ahead by 5 goals to nil at half time. Conor Coffey scored a marvellous four goals in this half, with strike partner Paul Dunphy grabbing the other goal. The second half was a calmer affair, and the Carlow side pulled a goal back near the end of play.
It was difficult to pick out any individual for special recognition, as this was a real team performance from all the boys. The lads now look forward to the next round of matches, which take place shortly after the Halloween break.
Well done lads, and best of luck in the remaining games.
