Congratulations to Scoil Aireagail’s senior hurling panel who continued their great start in the schools’ ‘A’ competition with a second successive victory, this time against Abbey Community College.
Despite difficult weather conditions in Kilmacow, both teams showed quality hurling skills at times and the result was a closely fought, good sporting encounter. Conor Walsh led the scoring for the Ballyhale boys in the first half, with three points, including one from a sideline ball. He was joined in the scoring stakes by Conor Coffee, Padraic Gahan, Liam Phelan and Matthew Moylan. Scoil Aireagail led by 0-7 to 0-5 at half time.
The second half saw the Abbey fight back, with a goal and two points in a five minute burst. It was a closely fought affair from here on in, until a Conor Walsh goal and a stoppage time point saw Scoil Aireagail home on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-10.
A man of the match performance left Conor Walsh with a personal tally of 1-7, ably assisted by Conor Coffee and Liam Phelan up front, Peter Kenneally and Jamie Phelan in midfield, and Martin Duggan, Ger Malone and Matthew Moylan at the back. Stephen Farrell, making his debut in goal this season, also made some fine saves.
Well done to all concerned, and to manager Mr. Murphy, and best of luck in the next match lads.
