Handball News

This year’s handball started with the 60x30m competition. As always there is great interest in the sport and the following students represented the school with great distinction.

Boys

1^st Year Singles:
Sean Fitzpatrick. Very unfortunate to lose by 1 ace to Callan CBS. Fantastic prospect.

1^st Year Doubles:
Billy Moran and Anton O’Shea. Win over Callan CBS in round 1 but lost in 2^nd round to Kieran’s.

U-15 Singles:
Cillian Lafford. Narrowly Lost to Callan CBS in round 1

U-15 Doubles:
Patrick Hearne and Luke Ward. Lost to Callan CBS in round 1

U-17 Singles; Roy Cullen. Excellent player who is just overage for U-15. Played and lost against an older and experienced All-Ireland Champion. Will be underage for this competition next year.

U-17 Doubles:
Mark Ryan and Conor O Dwyer. Had great wins over Callan CBS in round 1. Kilkenny Vocational School in Round 2 and narrowly beaten by Castlecomer in Leinster Semi-Finals

U-19 Singles:
Alan Funchion: Lost 1^st round to Callan CBS.

U-19 Doubles;
Adam Smyth and Brian Phelan.  Beat Callan CBS in round 1 and lost to Kieran’s in 2^nd round

Girls

All the 1^st year girls are playing handball for the 1^st time so great credit must go to them for all their efforts.

1^st Year Singles:

1^st Year Doubles:
Margaret Irish and Ciara Moran
U-16 Doubles:
Ciara Phelan and Tara Wilson through to Leinster Semi-Finals
U-19 Singles:
Sarah Molloy who was beaten in Leinster Semi-Finals
