What an excellent night the school community of Scoil Aireagal enjoyed last Friday at the ‘Cherishing Our Past’ event. Approximately 400 past pupils and others associated with the school enjoyed a unique exhibition of school memorabilia, ranging from old photographs, newspaper cuttings and video footage, to project work from students past and present. They came from far and wide to be part of the 55th year anniversary of the school’s contribution to education in the community. The event was also streamed live to an international audience.
The atmosphere on the evening was fantastic as people renewed acquaintances and savoured a trip down memory lane. There was much humour and warmth at seeing familiar faces. A feature of the evening was a number of families who could boast three generations who had been educated at Scoil Aireagail. It was a truly memorable weekend with a steady stream of visitors also enjoying the exhibition on the Saturday. Thanks to all who came and thanks also for generously supporting the Easter raffle and ‘Buy a Brick’ campaign in aid of the school’s infrastructural development. The commemorative ‘Cherishing Our Past’ magazine remains on sale in the school. Please contact the school if you would like to purchase a copy or contribute to the fundraising activities.
