The Scoil Aireagail U16 hurling team had a convincing win in their opening match of the season vs Colaiste Eamann Ris, Callan. 2-16 to 1-4 points. The school started strong in the first half and Callan only scored 4 points . Scoil Aireagail didn’t perform to their full potential in the second half, Callan fought back and came within touching distance. The substitutions of James Brennan and Jack Walsh influenced the game immensely with James making some startling runs and picking up a point and Jack Walsh knocking over 2 of his own from great distance. Goal keeper Dean Mason made some great saves and his pin point puck outs made a huge difference to the forwards. Captain Martin Davis had a strong game picking up 6 points and full forward Rory Doyle picking up 5 points and Micheal Murphy scoring 1-2.

The scorers were Martin Davis(C) 0-6, Rory Doyle 0-5 Mickey Murphy 1-2 Andrew Moran 1-0, James Brennan 0-1 and Jack Walsh 0-2.
It was a great opening match for the team and will hopefully boost the teams confidence and moral.
The next match is due for the 1st of October vs Wexford CBS in Wexford. And we wish them best of luck in their following matches.
