Scoil Aireagail TY students are proud to announce the launch of the Scoil Aireagail ‘Cycle to Syria’ in support of the Trocaire Refugee Fund.
The cycle will kick off this Saturday 17th October at 11am in the school hall. Past pupils and Kilkenny senior hurling All Ireland winners Joey Holden, Michael Fennelly, Colin Fennelly, and Paul Murphy will pedal the first leg of the 5300km journey to Syria. Over the following two weeks, members of the community are invited to get involved by cycling some of the distance on the bicycles set up in the school and donating money to this worthy cause.
The whole community is invited to the school hall for the launch party this Saturday where they can enjoy a cup of tea and cakes while being entertained by traditional music played by our past and present pupils together with Ms. Rowe. Beat fm will also be joining us to make sure that the atmosphere is electric.
We would like to thank Halfords for their support and supplying the bikes and all equipment for the cycle – without them it wouldn’t have been possible. Annette Muldowney, Bobby Hearne and Joe Foster have worked very hard with the TY students to put the fundraising event together and help raise as much money as possible for the Trocaire Refugee Fund.
