Our Transition Year students have started working with our local Bank of Ireland branch in Thomastown to set up a school bank. Six students have been appointed by the bank to run the operations in the school. The bank managers are Emily Murphy, John Phelan, and Grace Kent, while Matthew Fitzpatrick, Eoin Dungan, and Sean O’Grady will be working in the Customer Services Team. They will be involved in setting up and managing the day-to-day operations of a bank which will help them build and develop important skills such as, Marketing, Money Management, Regular Savings, Customer Service, Management, Teamwork, personal development and presentation skills, security, data protection and compliance. Our school bank team will be supported by Kevin Doyle, Bank of Ireland Thomastown to ensure its smooth operation.
The bank is a fantastic opportunity for students to open a bank account, get an ATM card, and start saving regularly-an important life long habit!
