There were three entries in the Junk Kouture Competition this year. Emily Murphy, Nicole Sutton and Laura Culleton were busy collecting all sorts of wrapping paper for their entry ‘All wrapped up’. Old cards, dice and poker chips were the materials used for ‘Casino Royale’ made by Sinead Fitzpatrick, Lauren Browne, Grace Kent and Sienna Reynolds. ‘Pandora’s Closet went for a blue and pink theme, and used old cd’s to create their outfit, made by Chloe Corrigan and Maria Edwards. The girls worked really hard on their outfits for weeks and got to show off all their hard work in a photoshoot. First it was off to hair and make- up which was expertly done by Suzanne and the student hairdressers, and then it was time to strike some poses in front of the camera. Thanks to Stephanie who came in to take the photos!
After an anxious few days wondering if we would get through, we got the fantastic news that one of our entries was selected for the regional finals – Casino Royale! A representative of Bank of Ireland in Thomastown, came to present the girls with their silver ticket which fast tracked them to the regional finals! There was great excitement as the girls had no idea and were completely surprised to discover the news. This is a fantastic achievement for Scoil Aireagail, as there were over 1000 entries and Casino Royale was one of the 320 regional finalists. Sinead Fitzpatrick is the model for the outfit and will take to the stage in the Theatre of the University of Limerick on the 11th of March. Our small parish has produced many an All Ireland finalist……here’s hoping we’ll have one more! We wish Sinead and all the girls, the very best of luck.
