The school has been without power four the last four days and is likely to be without power again on Friday 20 October. The power outage was caused in a major fault in the line as a result of damage caused by hurricane Ophelia. The school has been in constant contact with the ESB who have advised that the school is a priority. Their best estimate for the repair of the fault is Friday at 8 pm. The school has to remain closed for the duration of the power outage.
This is a regrettable situation which is completely out of the control of the school. It has impacted on every aspect of school life; class contact time, extra-curricular activities, parent teacher meetings etc. On re-opening of the school will take measures to ensure that time lost during the closure will be regained in terms of the teaching of subject syllabi, exam preparation and other aspects of school life. The last week has been a challenging time for all affected by the extreme weather conditions. We look forward to school life resuming as soon as possible for all in the Scoil Aireagail community and hope that all have come through the last week’s events safely.
