Scoil Aireagail Students Council hosted its annual Childline Breakfast Morning on October 23rd. The ISPCC Childline Breakfast week is a fun charity breakfast which is hosted across the country to help support the ISPCC Childline service. Breakfasts held will ensure Childline can continue to support and empower children 24 hours a day, every day.
Childline answers over 1,000 contacts every day by phone, online live chat and text. Many of these contacts come at night and in the early morning, as children and young people face the day ahead. They may be lonely, hurt or upset. They may have experienced abuse or trauma. Childline is always there to support them and lets them know they matter.
The event took place in the Carmelite Canteen, and raised over €400 for this worthy cause. Thanks to students, parents, staff local shops, businesses including Glenisk Yogurt, Value Centre Cash and Carry Kilkenny, Curran Foods Ltd Waterford and John Nolan, Avonmore for generous donations. Thanks also to all students for participating, and to Ms. Phelan, Angie and the Students’ Council for co-ordinating the event.
