The Minister for Education, Ms. Norma Foley TD, has announced that secondary schools will close until 1 February in response to the rise in community spread of Covid -19. Scoil Aireagail will put the following arrangements in place to ensure the continuation of learning for all students.
6th Year Students
· Teachers will hold two ‘virtual’ classes with each of their classes each week. Teachers will inform their students when this class will take place. It will be broadly in line with their existing timetable. Using a digital device, the students will log onto Teams at the time and participate in the class.
· Remote learning methods will be used for the other classes.
· Students will receive a Virtual Class Timetable through Teams.
All Other Year Groups
· Teachers will hold one ‘virtual’ class with each of their classes each week. Teachers will inform their students when this class will take place. It will be broadly in line with their existing timetable. Using a digital device, the students will log onto Teams at the time and participate in the class.
· Teachers will set assignments for remaining classes which students will submit on Teams.
· Students will receive a Virtual Class Timetable through Teams.
Suitable Digital Devices
· Students can use their phone, laptop or tablet.
· X-box and Playstation consoles can also be used to access the Microsoft suite of applications including Microsoft 365 and Teams
Virtual Classroom Rules
· It is forbidden for students to record online classes.
· It is forbidden for any other person to be in the room during an online class.
Guidance Counselling
· The school’s Guidance Counsellor, Ms. Dennehy, will be available to students. Students can contact Ms. Dennehy using Teams by sending her an email on the ‘Chat’ function.
