On Wednesday 22nd of May, our Junior boys and girls were both victorious in their KCETB league finals. Both games took place in Highview Athletic with the girls facing Coláiste Aindriú Bagnelstown and the boys encountering Colaiste Pobail Osrai.
The girls kicked off first and even though they dominated the game Bagnelstowns defensive formation proved extremely difficult to break down. An excellent period of play from Orla Sutton, Megan Walsh and Abbie O’Keefe late in the second half ensured victory and provided a flattering score line of 4-0 to Scoil Aireagail.
The boys kicked off and started fast through creative masterclasses from Michael Dunne and Oisin Duffin. A clever free kick from Sam Mansfield in which Oisin Duffin got on the end of put the boys ahead. However, CPO we’re a fierce opposition and fought straight back equalising with a clever finish. An inspirational second half and extra time performance from Cathal Coogan would halt CPOs main threat and allow for our own attacking talent to flourish in the final third. Two late goals set up again by Sam and finished again by Oisin would secure a fantastic 3-1 win for the boys.
These results completed a quadruple of trophies for Scoil Aireagail Soccer this year. Congratulations to all players involved and the management team of Mr. Mackey and Mr. Doyle.
