Representatives from I.T Carlow and University of Limerick came to Scoil Aireagail recently to talk to our 6th Year students about each college. The aim of these talks is to promote the colleges to our students and to answer any questions they may have about courses they are considering to study next year.

Our Transition year students completed an intensive one day first aid course on Thursday 20th October for which they will receive a First Aid Certificate. Thanks to Ms. O’ Dwyer for organizing this.

Dáil Visit

As part of their CSPE course, our 3rd years visited Dáil Eireann on Thursday 27th October. This is an important practical addition to their study of CSPE and proved to be an enjoyable, as well as educational, outing. Thanks to Ms. Leahy, Ms O’ Dwyer, and Ms. Phelan for organising the trip.

TY Mock Presidential Election

Our Transition Year students conducted a mock presidential election on Wednesday 26th October ahead of the real presidential election on Thursday 27th. The aim of this exercise is to demonstrate how the Proportional Representational system operates. In our election Sean Gallagher was elected on the third count.

TY Music recital

Last week our Transition year students were treated to a recital from a musical trio that included a double bass, flute, and guitar. A very pleasant hour was spent listening to the talented trio. This event was sponsored by Art Scope and part funded by the Arts Education Officer of Kilkenny V.E.C.
