Hard luck to Scoil Aireagail’s senior girls’ football team who lost a close encounter with Castlecomer Community School on Thursday, 8th October.
The first half was a tight affair, with Castlecomer leading by 1-3 to 3 points at half time. Julianne Malone, Marie Murphy and Jade Cuddihy were the Ballyhale scorers. The girls’ chances of victory took an early blow during the opening half as Susie Dunphy suffered a broken wrist following a brave block down.
Castlecomer increased their lead in the second half, despite the best efforts of Scoil Aireagail Goalkeeper Natasha Curran. Nonetheless, the Ballyhale girls fought back well, adding a further 2 points and a well-taken goal by Kayleigh O’Brien to their tally before time ran out on their comeback.
Final score: Castlecomer 3-7 Scoil Aireagail 1-5.
Best of luck in the next match to all the panel and manager Ms. Fogarty.
