1st year students recently participated in a nationwide schools’ campaign to educate and raise student awareness of littering called the ‘Bin it!’ workshop.
The campaign aims to inform young people aged 11-13 about the environmental cost and social issues surrounding discarded chewing gum.
Littered gum is a topic that most students will have experience of, and makes a great starting point for encouraging students to take an interest in current issues, engage in discussion and debate, play an active role as responsible citizens in public life, and learn about their rights and responsibilities.
